Professor Geoffrey Lipman, Founder

Professor Lipman has played a key role in emergence of Tourism as a serious socio-economic sector.

  • As Executive Director at IATA in the 1970’s helped drive a new liberalization agenda, responding to airline deregulation.

  • As first President of WTTC throughout the 1990’s, he worked to pioneer new systems of measuring the sector, creating CSR Certification and supporting China’s efforts to open Tourism markets.

  • As Assistant Secretary General of UNWTO, in the first decade of this millennium, he spearheaded new development support systems, including the ST-EP Program, led the Davos Climate Summit and launched G20 Summit recognition program.

  • As Co-founder of SUNx Strong Universal Network – a legacy project of Maurice Strong This is a global initiative to support Climate Resilience, related SDG’s and Emergency Response through Climate Friendly Travel ~ Measured: Green: 2050proof.

    Served on public / private sector Boards in Africa, Europe, Middle East and Canada: Tourism Envoy to UNDP Administrator; Member EU Commissions on Airline Liberalization and on Tourism Employment: Environment Advisor to the Governor of Jeju Island, Korea: President ICTP (International Coalition of Tourism Partners). Worked closely with the World Economic Forum since the early 90’s on its Competitiveness and Smart Travel activities.

    Written / lectured widely on tourism strategy, sustainability & liberalization; co-author/ editor of two books and numerous journal articles on Green Growth & Travelism as a visiting Professor, Victoria University, Australia. Co-author two major EIU studies on airline liberalization.

Ged Brown – Co-Founder

The Founder of the low season travel movement, Ged is a highly regarded travel industry leader with over 20 years experience leading global travel and tourism sector organisations through transition and developing new revenue streams.

Ged has held senior management positions at many prominent travel organisations such as; Thomas Cook, Travel Weekly, MyTravel, TUI and Kuoni. He sat on the Executive Leadership Board at UBM Routes Events for 10 years, during which time he pioneered and promoted the role of tourism authorities in the air service development process as well as managing the host city selection processes for all events. He is also something of a data geek after being indoctrinated during his time at ForwardKeys.

Ged is the founder and CEO of Low Season Traveller; the world’s original and first organisation completely dedicated to the promotion of travel during the non peak seasons in each destination as a way to alleviate the growing problem of over-tourism but more importantly, because he believes that the low seasons provide the very best experiences in each destination.

A passionate advocate of the advantages of tourism, Ged is dedicated to ensuring that there is a sustainable tourism offering for future generations which protects and nurtures destinations and their cultures.

As such, Ged is proud to be a Founding Partner of The World Tourism Association of Culture and Heritage where he plays an active role on the Senior Executive Board. Additionally, Ged regularly writes articles for industry publications within the tourism sector and is an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and passionate speaker at several trade events throughout the year such as WTM, ITB, IMEX, Buzz, M&I and others and is regularly called upon to commentate on travel industry issues of overtourism and responsible tourism in media interviews on radio and TV.

An avid travel podcaster and publisher, Ged has travelled extensively throughout the world, (mostly during their low seasons) and passionately believes that travel can and should be better for host communities, the natural environment and cultural heritage as well as for travellers.

Dominic Wanjuru

Community Manager

Dominic is a sustainability leader who is paasionate about the future of Climate Friendly Travel. He holds a degree in Travel and Tour Operations Management (BSc) from Moi University, Kenya and a Climate Friendly Travel Diploma offered by SUNx Malta at the Institute of Tourism Studies (Malta). He is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Responsible Tourism Management at Leeds Beckett University. In his current role, Dominic manages and grows a revolutionary carbon loyalty program that rewards travelers across the world for reducing their carbon footprint. He leverages his skills in membership marketing, customer engagement, and data analysis to create and deliver value propositions, campaigns, and incentives that attract and retain members and partners. Bo Pelech – Vice Chair

Bo is an Executive in Residence at the University of Toronto Rotman School of Management, where he teaches an applied consulting project course called ‘Sustainability: Making the Business Case’ and facilitates a parallel internship program.

Bo is also an advisor at the Mayor Wilson educational consultancy. He excels at building ecosystems with early adopter industry partners to support this unique, highly inclusive, broad-based academic curriculum across growth, strategy, and innovation problem statements and challenges.

In the past, he held senior positions within the investment banking industry, and also acted in a research role within the small-market PE sector. He was a founder of a data-oriented marketing start-up and has supported other start-ups as both an angel investor and mentor.
