A Social Enterprise

As with all Social Enterprises, The Climate Friendly Travel Club has a dual mission: financial sustainability and social/environmental impact. We will always prioritize innovative solutions to pressing environmental problems and operate with transparency and accountability.

By joining the Climate Friendly Travel Club, our members are contributing to our key overarching aims:

  1. Addressing Global Critical Issues: We support the pressing global challenges of poverty, education, and environmental sustainability.
  2. Economic Development: We promote economic development for communities in the least developed countries on earth by creating jobs and providing training.
  3. Innovation and Sustainability: We drive innovation and sustainable practices for the travel sector.
  4. Ethical Consumerism: We proactively promote and support ethical consumerism, supporting businesses with a commitment to social and environmental responsibility.

Supporting the Climate Friendly Travel Club is ethical and responsible because our membership helps us to prioritize ethical business practices, transparency, community engagement, sustainability, and positive social impact. And, in turn, our members contribute to a better, more equitable, and sustainable world – which feels good.

Through our partnership with the SUNx Program, our members are already contributing to our active support of the following initiatives:

  • Creation of 50 Climate Friendly Travel Chapters in all of the LDC+ states

  • Training of 100,000 Climate Champions in all United Nations States worldwide: Following the vision of Maurice Strong, Travel & Tourism could be a catalyst for positive change driven by youth. The National Climate Champions Programs will create an online network of 100,000 Climate Champions by 2030 across all UN States to advance Climate Friendly Travel in their country.

  • 10,000 Registered travel companies listed on the Climate Friendly Travel Registry.  The Global Registry for 2050 Climate & Sustainability Ambitions which is the Travel & Tourism entry point to the UNFCCC Climate Action Portal. The Registry is open to all Travel & Tourism companies and communities, and helps them to create a 2050 Climate Action Plan covering transport, hospitality, travel service and infrastructure providers

  • 1,000 Graduates of the Climate Friendly Travel Diploma. This 2 year program is the world’s first online course on Climate Friendly Travel (CFT) – destined to become the “New Normal” in a Post-Pandemic, cleaner, greener, more responsible future. It helps post-graduate students to Discover CFT and how it fits with the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Climate Agreement.

  • Support of the Strong Earth Youth Summit: A tribute to Maurice Strong, this event highlights the need for a clean and green future for the Tourism sector, in accordance with Maurice’s vision, the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and 2050 Paris Agreement. It aims to promote climate hope through awareness and education, youth empowerment, engagement and action.
